:envihab is a state-of-the-art research facility located in Cologne, Germany. The Envihab Bed Rest Standard Measures monitor the effects of simulated microgravity and/or hypercapnic atmospheric composition and the effectiveness of various treatments as countermeasures to these negative effects. The human physiological, neurological, and behavioral outcomes associated with long-duration bed rest, are captured. Extended exposure to a head-down tilt position can duplicate many of the effects of a low-gravity environment. The nine areas of measures are ancillary, behavioral health, biochemistry, bone mineral density, cardiovascular physiology, immunology, muscle physiology, ocular tests, and sensorimotor physiology.
